The Tutor · PUBLIC GUIDE
A clear method. Honest limits.
Understanding grows when you can explain an idea, support it with evidence, and consider an alternative. The Tutor offers short explanations, questions, and challenges. Starter lessons remain useful when the service is unavailable, and custom-topic limits are stated openly.
The learning loop
Choose a topic and tell the tutor what you are trying to understand. Explain mode offers a manageable explanation. Ask mode gives a question to test a concept. Challenge mode invites you to examine assumptions or alternatives. A useful response connects the claim, evidence, and next question rather than rewarding length.
Feedback is formative
The rubric looks for comprehension, relevant evidence, consideration of alternatives, and willingness to revise a claim. It is not an IQ measure, accredited grade, or guarantee of factual correctness. A concise correct explanation can be stronger than a long answer with unsupported assertions. Read the concrete feedback and inspect the sources.
Curated and generated are labeled
The browser sends a message only when you choose Continue learning. The service may return a reviewed curated lesson or an optional provider response. The interface identifies the mode. On a network error or timeout, a local curated response is labeled explicitly. Curated lessons cannot verify arbitrary custom topics or provide live updates.
Keep the argument visible
The editable argument map separates your claim, supporting evidence, and alternative explanation. These fields remain in your browser unless you deliberately export them. They are not silently sent with a tutor message. Change the map as your understanding changes; learning includes revising an earlier view.
